Razor Film have won two Golden Globes so far, have been nominated three times for an Oscar and have premiered at major A-Festivals. Razor Film’s production credits include the first Saudi Arabian feature Wadjda by Haifaa Al Mansour, Waltz With Bashir by Ari Folman, Looking For Oum Kulthum by Shirin Neshat and most recently The Perfect Candidate by Haifaa Al Mansour and Quo Vadis, Aida? by Jasmila Žbanić. Up to now Razor’s productions won two Golden Globes, were nominated three times for an Academy Award and premiered and were awarded at major festivals worldwide. In recent years Razor has also focused more on television series with the German productions of Gods Are Us and Der Usedom Krimi. Razor Film was founded in 2002 by Gerhard Meixner and Roman Paul and produces national and international feature films from arthouse to crossover, focusing on new talent and high quality. In 2019 was named professor at the Filmakademie Ludwigsburg and “Chevalier des Arts et Lettres” by the Republic of France. Since October 2013 he is also the co-director of the International Production Masterclass “Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris” at the Filmakademie Ludwigsburg and La Fémis Paris. Roman Paul is a member of the European and German Film Academy, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), as well as ACE (Atelier du Cinéma Européen). From October 2002 until April 2006, besides working as a producer, he also served as an acquisitions consultant for Celluloid Dreams World Sales in Paris. In October 2002 he founded Razor Film Produktion in Berlin along with Gerhard Meixner. In 1999 he took over as Head of International Acquisitions at Senator Film Distribution in Berlin. He started his career in the film business as Director of Acquisitions for the arthouse distributor Prokino in Munich. ![]() Roman Paul holds a Master Degree in Theatre-, Film- and Media Studies from Goethe University in Frankfurt.
